Ready for the cup? yeah the cup gives us a nice little break doesn't it um you know from the premier league um obviously we're still very excited for europe but uh yeah gives us a a nice little break from from that sort of business um and also what a great day out for lincoln um you know yes to come to to a premier league club which is great obviously they're in the championship now I'm sure their main focus is to obviously secure championship football for next season. I'm sure that's their main aim for this year. But yeah, I mean, you know, remember us playing Lincoln many, many times over the years. And, you know, remember the famous, being at the famous 2003 playoff final when we beat them 5-3. Yes. 3-2, always get that one mixed up. Yeah. Great day. And, yeah, so, yeah, got a lot of fond memories of Lincoln over the years. So, yeah, it'd be nice to see them back at the Vitality. But, yeah, I'm sure they've got a few players that, you know, we're going to have to watch as well. And I'm sure there's going to be a bit of squad rotation from ourselves, which is something else I'm looking forward to as well, because it'd be good to see some of the players that, you know, maybe haven't had as many minutes as others get some minutes in this game just to, you know i think key to give some players a rest but also it's very key to give some players competitive minutes which is very hard to to come by in the premier league isn't it to get as many competitive minutes so um yeah it be good to see a few names um get some minutes so yeah looking forward to it And of course that player final you know everybody will remember that celebration from Steve Fletcher So, yes. And, of course, there is an interview with Fletch on this very channel where he does go into this. So, Lincoln fans, if you are interested in that, you know, do, do, do. Go and check that out. Of course, Lincoln City promoted to the championship last time around, finished the season winning 31 games, drawing 10, only five defeats and 103 points. they won the promotion to the championship after a 2-1 win against Reading at the Medesi Stadium on the 6th of April and then went a little bit better a fortnight later when they become champions of League One when they beat Doncaster Rovers so they are a side not to be underestimated and they do have a lot of quality and I've already seen a little bit of them um in fact I saw a bit you know of their highlights this weekend um of course they got a draw um against our friends just down the M27 at home didn't they yes they did they did yeah I didn't manage to catch the highlights I think that was the half 12 kickoff wasn't it on Saturday it was yeah they were playing at the same game as our time as us yeah i didn't um catch the highlights uh but yeah that's obviously a big big point for them off of a side that is going to be chasing promotion um so that's a massive point for them on the road which i'm sure they're going to be um you know really happy with makes you wonder whether they've stayed locally as well um and maybe training somewhere around here um because it's a long old trip back up to come straight back down again isn't it so who knows but um obviously clubs don't always have um you know as much expenditure do they sometimes to be able to do things like that yeah um so the game was in lincoln the game was in lincoln yeah it was up there but that won't be happening then so there you go so that's uh that's uh not on the cards and so well at least they haven't got to go back up and then come back down again um at least they've never got to come back down but um yeah so excuse my error there but yeah gonna be some players though that we gonna have to watch I imagine I think going to be some squad rotation from ourselves Like I say I actually got a bit of a line up in my head which I would like to see So, yeah, I think with these games, though, you've got to be careful, even though if you do rotate the squad, you've got to be careful. You've always got to have a plan B up your sleeve because, you know, sides like Lincoln can spring a surprise on you. and you don't want to be going sort of into that sort of 70-minute mark being 1-0 down at home to Lincoln in the cup because, you know, that is the sign of a potential giant killing, if that's still a word they use. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, so we still have to be cautious. You know, we can't just write them off. Just simple ingredients and better nutrition. nature raised farms find it at your local retailer now evan ilsen you know has missed a few sitters recently you know if jefferson gets out there and you know scores a couple of goals you know it's gonna put him firmly in the mind of the manager so yeah i think goals you know if we can get a good run of goals you know it'd be nice to have like you know 45 goals wouldn't that be nice that'd be nice a lot of confidence in the team and uh yeah win convincingly would be nice but we can't write him off if you know what i mean this is in all honesty a bit of a banana skin yeah i always i see this as a bit of banana skin so whilst i think we need to make changes i think we need to get ben galland doak involved i think we need to get Jebberson involved, Rodriguez, I think Juanlo Sanchez as well, you know, get him involved, get, you know, make the changes, give everybody minutes in the tank and get, you know, drop players who are maybe feeling a little bit after the first couple of games of the season. I think we cannot underestimate this team. And I've picked out a couple of players. I know and, you know, I've studied Lincoln in a little bit of depth because, of course, they are a side that, you know, seem to be coming up. Of course, they were in the National League not so long ago. But one player that does jump out of the back, a left back, he is 33 years old. He will be somebody that everybody will recognize the name of. We played against him as well. is Adam Reach. Of course he was playing for Sheffield Wednesday for quite a period of time Before that he was at Middlesbrough and he was a little bit of a journey man as well Had several loan spells played against us in the lower leagues as well on our journey up so Adam Reach is a big big name he's still playing he's playing for Lincoln City and he seems pivotal to what they do so no doubt we will see him playing we did also mention as well before the show kicked off Ethan Wheatley of course he is on loan from Manchester United he's been at Walsall, Northampton and Bradford beforehand was very, very good in the Bradford team last year who come very close to being promoted themselves as well. And of course, Northampton, he's kind of steadied them in league one. Also, you can't rule out as well, a player who, anybody who's played FC 26 and got on, well, to be honest, gone on to the cheap things and have a look at who have got the best growth stats. But a player that is up and coming very, very fast is Mason Melia. Of course, he's an Irish international. He's played two times for Republic of Ireland. He was at St. Patrick's Athletic before signing for Spurs. He's really highly rated at Spurs. he's on loan at Lincoln City and he has started two games for them and I just want to mention as well a player who you know I've always been impressed with whenever I've watched Lincoln you know and to be honest I'm not going to profess to be a Lincoln connoisseur um but uh Rico Hackett is also a winger. He's dangerous. He's dangerous. And I might be wrong in... No, I think I am wrong in thinking that. I seem to remember he was at Boreham Woods very briefly before that night that we won't go into in much detail. But yeah, he's a very, very, very talented individual. He is at his peak of his game. And it would not surprise me if he ends up in the Premier League at some point Would Lincoln get into the Premier League They might have a bit of a journey to get to that stage but it wouldn't surprise me if Rico Hackett ends up there. So, yeah, some real talent. We cannot underestimate this team. No, absolutely not. No, absolutely not. But, yeah, you've mentioned some decent players there. and yeah like I say whoever we were facing you know you can't underestimate but for myself but you know I'd like to see us hit the ground running on this one yeah or a few goals you know you know this season start has been you know as we as we all know has been a little bit I don't know if you could describe it stop start but you know there's been results where we should have probably done better so I just think this one pressure off let's go out and play football some of the lads that haven't been playing recently can give them a chance to go out there and express themselves, show the manager what they can do. And, yeah, let's score some goals. That would be really, really good. And let's progress to the next round as well. I mean, I like the Carberry Cup. I think it's a great competition. Yeah. I like it. I know, obviously, when you've got European football, you get the lucky privilege to start into the third round. Um, but yeah, let's, let's, let's progress on. I know we've got to the quarterfinals of this cup before. Let's go a couple of steps further in it. Why not? And it's silverware is silverware and Newcastle fans, no doubt, um, will really profess that, you know, it was a day that, you know, they will never forget in that final. and by all means if we can get to that sort of stage then you know it will all be worth it but we need to make sure we don't underestimate and take these teams seriously that is the big big question you know can we rotate with Europe coming up as well Europe of course is going to be more of a priority than this competition can we also field that side that is going to get us to the next stage Matt we not going to do line up so much but you know unless you got a team that you would actually put out but should we go on to predictions And is there any players Yeah a couple of players I like to see is obviously the new goalkeeper as I mentioned. I'd like to see Jefferson get some decent minutes under their belt. Midfield-wise, I think for this one, let's play Christie and Cook. Let's give Scott and Adams a rest. Yeah. I see a lot of games coming up. um like you've said hitting them on there ganon dope let's give the lad some minutes he's such a talent um you know obviously we've had the disappointment missing out on the europa league squad so let's give him some minutes in this competition because i really do think he's a real talent i'm a real fan of his so yeah you know a few names there like that um obviously dear katie let's give him some minutes yeah um you know he's not at the uh greatest starts but I think he is a good player, so let's give him some minutes for some confidence. So yeah, those are the kind of names I'd like to see. In terms of score prediction, I'd love to see us keep a clean sheet. I think that'd be great. And I'm going to go, and I'm probably going to be completely wrong on this, but it is what it is. I'm just going to go with it because it's what's all lines in my head. And I'm going to go 4-0 Bournemouth. I think that'd be an excellent result. We probably will end up conceding. but for me, I think if we can come out of this 4-0 I think that's going to breathe a lot of confidence through the squad and we can hopefully kick on then against Brentford I'm going to go with 3-1 Bournemouth I think that we will take control of the game I think Lincoln will get one back I think Rodriguez will get on the score sheet Gallon Doak will get on the score sheet I'd like to see Ryan Christie get on the score sheet I think Rico Hackett for them I've been very very impressed whenever I've watched him I think he's a very very decent player but he's a player that wouldn't look out of place in the top flight given and put into the right set up I'm going to go for a 3-1 win through to the next round and then of course it just gets tougher and tougher from there whoever we get in the fourth round, whether or not it's a team that are already in Europe, and hence the reason why they've skipped a couple of rounds like we have, or it's a team that started at round one,  or not, it's a team that are already in Europe, and hence the reason why they've skipped a couple of rounds like we have, or it's a team that started at round one and have managed to get their way through, maybe even beating a Premier League side. Hopefully we don't fall. You know, Fowle and Lincoln can turn around and say that, you know, in round four. You know, it's going to be a tough challenge because there will be slip-ups, there will be upsets and there will be no doubt a one premier league side that goes out of this competition to a side that have had to fight from round one um so yeah that is i'm just hoping just hoping we get through to the next round and just have a bit of a cup run um you know if we can win it that would be even better.
